Résumé
IGLS XVI, Volume 1 : Qanawāt et la bordure nord du jebel al-‘Arab
L’importante cité de Canatha (Qanawāt) et le sanctuaire voisin de Seeia (Sī‘), avec la dizaine de villages qui leur sont proches, ont livré de nombreux témoignages de l’Antiquité. Plus de 300 inscriptions grecques et latines, entre le iie siècle avant notre ère et le viie siècle de notre ère, illustrent les préoccupations et les croyances des populations de l’Auranitide antique. Invocations et offrandes aux dieux, constructions publiques et privées, honneurs décernés à des citoyens bienfaiteurs, épitaphes, inscriptions chrétiennes citant des versets bibliques ou commémorant la construction d’églises ne sont que quelques exemples de la variété des textes rassemblés dans ce premier volume du tome 16, consacré au Jebel al‑‘Arab actuel.
IGLS XVI, Volume 2 : Suwaydā et la bordure ouest du Jebel al-‘Arab
La cité antique de Soada–Dionysias (Suwaydā’), et la vingtaine de villages qui occupent la bordure nord‑occidentale du Jebel al-‘Arab ont livré de nombreux témoignages de l’Antiquité. Plus de 250 inscriptions grecques et latines, entre le ier siècle avant notre ère et le viiie siècle de notre ère, illustrent les préoccupations et les croyances des populations de ce qui constituait l’Auranitide antique. Invocations et offrandes aux dieux, constructions publiques et privées, honneurs décernés à des citoyens bienfaiteurs, épitaphes, inscriptions chrétiennes citant des versets bibliques ou commémorant la construction d’églises ne sont que quelques exemples de la variété des textes rassemblés dans ce volume.
Abstract
IGLS XVI, Volume 1 : Qanawāt and the northern edge of the Jabal al-‘Arab
The important city of Canatha (Qanawāt) and the major sanctuary of Seeia (Sī‘), with the ten villages around them, gave a lot of testimonies from Antiquity. More than 300 Greek and Latin inscriptions from the 2nd century BC to the 8th century AD, illustrate the concerns and beliefs of the people of the ancient Auranitis. Invocations and offerings to the gods, public and private buildings, honours bestowed on beneficent citizens, epitaphs, Christian inscriptions quoting biblical verses or commemorating the construction of churches are but a few examples of the variety of texts collected in the first volume of the tome 16, which gathers the inscriptions from the present Jabal al-‘Arab.

الجزء الأول : قناوات والحفّة الشمالية لجبل العرب
قدمت مدينة كاناثا (قنوات) الهامة ومعبد سيع المجاور لها وكذلك القرى العشر القريبة منها، الكثير من الشواهد الأثرية، من بينها أكثر من 300 نقش لاتيني ويوناني يعود تاريخها إلى ما بين القرنين الثاني قبل الميلاد والسابع الميلادي. وتسلط هذه النقوش الضوء على اهتمامات ومعتقدات سكان ما كان يُشكّل منطق حوارن القديمة. أدعية وقرابين للآلهة، ومبانٍ عامة وخاصة، ونصب تُكرِّم مواطنين محسنين، ومرثيّات، ونقوش مسيحية تستشهد بآيات من الكتاب المقدس أو تُمجِّد ذكرى بناء الكنائس. هي مجرد أمثلة قليلة عن مجموعة متنوعة من النصوص التي تمّ جمعها في هذا المجلّد الأول من العدد 16 المخصص لجبل العرب.

قدّمت مدينة سوادا ديونيسياس القديمة (السويداء) والعشرون قرية المحيطة بأطراف جبل العرب الكثير من الشواهد الأثرية، من بينها أكثر من 250 نقشًا لاتينيًّا ويونانيًّا يعود تاريخها إلى ما بين القرنين الثاني قبل الميلاد والسابع الميلادي. وتُسلّط هذه النقوش الضوء على اهتمامات ومعتقدات سكان ما كان يُشكّل منطقة حوران القديمة. أدعية وقرابين للآلهة، ومبانٍ عامة وخاصة، ونصب تُكرِّم مواطنين محسنين، ومرثيّات، ونقوش مسيحية تستشهد بآيات من الكتاب المقدس أو تُمجّد ذكرى بناء الكنائس. هي مجرد أمثلة قليلة عن مجموعة متنوعة من النصوص التي جمعها في هذا المجلد.
